Grill-Worthy Fruit Desserts

This summer, I’m challenging myself to think beyond chicken, fish and steak on the grill. In fact, I’ve been finding a variety of innovative grilled dishes — think grilled pizzas and grilled fruits. With that in mind, I thought I’d round up a good list for those of you who are looking for a sweet treat to make right on the grill.

The best part about these desserts is that they can be prepared alongside your dinner, or fired up  just after your guests finish the main course.

First, I wanted to share this amazing Grilled Cherry and Blueberry Galette from Karen of The recipe calls for cherries, blueberries, rum, lemon juice, almonds and turbinado sugar (raw or cane brown sugar). In addition, the recipe requires making a Pâte Brisée, which sounds much more complicated than it actually is, and Karen offers great tips for perfecting the crust for this galette.

While I’m a huge fan of trying new foods, I have to admit — I had never tried a fig (sans Newton of course) until last year. Lately I’m seeing great fig recipes everywhere, such as this Grilled Fig with Goat Cheese and Balsamic dessert dish from Dacia of This simple recipe calls for figs, goat cheese, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and can be whipped up quickly.
