My mother’s family is from Southern Missouri, and for those of you unfamiliar with this section of the Midwest, Southern Missouri is known for it’s fantastic peaches. With peak peach season quickly closing (Nooo!), I thought I would round up some recipes to create a full menu of peach perfection (sorry — I couldn’t help myself, I’m a sucker for alliteration).
First up, this beautiful Peach, Endive, Arugula and Marcona Almond Salad from Erin, the writer behind the gluten-free blog Yummy Supper. Adapted from a Thomas Keller recipe, this dish requires extra steps — including making a peach puree — but Erin assures you it’s worth the work.
For the main course, I would recommend checking out this Pork Tenderloin with Peach Compote recipe from Eclectic Recipes. Calling for garlic, fennel, thyme, rosemary, sage, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, sugar, vermouth and sliced almonds, this dish boasts a sophisticated flavor profile. Keep in mind that the marinade needs to be made two to six hours in advance and refrigerated.
Even if you’ve never attempted a tart before, these instructions are simple to follow. Surprise your dinner guests with a delicious and seasonal dinner, inspired by the season. Enjoy!
